Sustainability

Why choose a real tree?

At Hagley Christmas Trees, we believe that a real Christmas tree is one of the most sustainable ways to celebrate the festive season.

Unlike artificial trees, which are typically made from petroleum-based plastics and metal, real Christmas trees are a renewable, natural product. During their years of growth, they absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, release oxygen, and provide valuable habitat for birds and wildlife. Once harvested, new trees are planted to continue the cycle.

Real trees are also 100% biodegradable. After Christmas, they can be recycled into mulch, compost, or even reused to support wildlife habitats. In contrast, artificial trees are difficult to recycle and often end up in landfill, where they can remain for many years.

Research suggests that a typical artificial tree has a significantly higher carbon footprint than a real tree and would need to be used for over a decade to match the environmental impact of a responsibly disposed real tree.

By choosing a locally grown Christmas tree, you're not only making a more environmentally conscious choice, you're also supporting local farming families and rural businesses. A real tree brings natural beauty, a fresh festive scent, and the knowledge that your Christmas tradition is working with nature rather than against it.

This Christmas, choose real, choose local, and choose a greener festive season.

Family & Pet Safe

Completely free from harsh chemicals, making them safe for your loved ones and furry friends throughout the holidays.

Naturally Untreated Trees

We take pride in keeping our trees as nature intended, so they are all 100% natural, free from chemical treatments, seals and artificial colorants.

Fresh Natural Scent

Experience the authentic, crisp aroma of the forest. Without chemical coatings, the natural pine fragrance fills your home beautifully.

Eco-Friendly Growth

Kinder to the environment throughout their life cycle, supporting local biodiversity and healthy soil on our farm.

Easy Recycling

Because they are untreated, our trees decompose naturally and can be easily chipped into nutrient-rich mulch for new saplings.

Sustainable Disposal

We are proud to announce that Hagley Christmas Trees has partnered with Mary Stevens Hospice for their incredible Treecycle initiative, which supports the hospice's mission to provide pallative and end-of-life specialist care for patients with incurable illnesses.

To make your post-holiday cleanup effortless, every tree we sell will feature a unique QR code. Simply scan it to schedule a convenient collection of your tree between 7th and 10th January 2027. After collection, all trees will be returned to our farm, where we will mulch them to provide organic nourishment for our local nursery business, Belbroughton Blooms.

This full-circle recycling program ensures your festive tree supports both a wonderful local charity and the growth of future plants in our community. Join us in making this season truly sustainable while giving back to those who need it most.

Supported postcodes are B62, B63, B64, DY1, DY2, DY3, DY4, DY5, DY6, DY7, DY8, DY9, DY10, DY11 and WV5.
